Most people learn in about 12-20 hours on average. This can increase or decrease depending on your skills and previous experience. 70% of what is required to learn to kitesurf is flying the kite. It is very important that you pay attention to other water sports enthusiasts. Here is what you need to learn before you can call yourself an independent kiter:
– Kite control + safety system (3-4 hours)
– Self-rescue. Here you will learn how to return safely to the beach if something goes wrong (1 hour)
– Upwind body drags. Here you will learn how to get your board back if you lose it. (2-4 hours)
– Water starts / First 50 meters of driving (2 – 4 hours)
– Driving in both directions (2-6 hours)
– Cruising/Cruising upwind. Here you will learn how to reach a point further upwind (2-4 hours)
–Theory. This includes general meteorology, collision prevention rules, and nature conservation rules.
As soon as you can call yourself an independent kiter, we offer you accompanied kitesurfing. This allows you to go kitesurfing under supervision during the course times. You will receive an introduction to the area, as well as help with take-off and landing. You can also, of course, pick up a tip or two.
From experience, concentration and energy wane after 3 hours, so we have set a lesson unit at 3 hours. But of course we are flexible here.
Kite, board, bar, trapeze and wetsuit are of course included in all courses.
If you want to bring your own wetsuit, I recommend:
Spring/Autumn: 3-5mm wetsuit
Summer: 2-3 mm wetsuit
Winter: hat, gloves, socks
TIP: Bring sunglasses with straps. You will often be looking up while kiting and could be blinded by the sun. Also, of course, sunscreen, a change of clothes and a towel.
Simply answer the questions about your previous experience in the booking form and we will plan the lesson accordingly.
The following applies:
2 students:1 teacher 50€ pP/hour
4 students:1 teacher 40€ pP/hour
We teach between 10 and 28 knots. At lower wind speeds it hardly makes sense for beginners and at higher wind speeds it is too dangerous.
Sure! We're going to get wet anyway.
Kitesurfing is difficult, but the learning curve is exponential. Anyone who wants to learn can do it! After the first 3 hours you will understand the principle.
We are on Rügen and teach at different spots depending on the wind direction and conditions. Our spots can be reached within 15-30 minutes. The island of Rügen is considered to be the region with the highest wind probability in northern Germany.
If there is no wind, we obviously cannot teach. We only teach when conditions allow it, ie onshore winds between 10 and 28 knots.
Feel free to visit our partner school "Wassersport Binz" in the Baltic Sea resort of Binz at beach exit 28 at the beach bar 28 or at "Surf&Sail Baabe" in Baabe at the fishing beach in front of the "Seeräuber" restaurant.
